I sat with my notebook for a long time. I remembered badminton tournaments in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang, where missing information is never a small issue because every rally changes the scoreboard. Today, the emptiness made me think about a larger gap: how we ignore data. Vietnamese badminton is growing fast, but its database is not. Domestic tournaments are rarely stored properly. Fans see Nguyen Thuy Linh winning on the world stage but rarely see her service patterns, net-play efficiency or nervous errors. The empty analysis reflects a reality: there is too much noise and too little signal. For Vietnamese badminton to advance, journalists and organizers must build a reliable data culture. Without data, analysis is just speculation. The empty analysis also teaches an important lesson about integrity: it is honest to say “I do not have enough information”. That courage is the foundation of professional sports journalism.
